july favourites 2017
This month certainly hasn't been the most exciting for me. I spent my time back and forth from my part-time job and spending my nights watching extremely old YouTube videos by the likes of Dan & Phil and Charlie McDonnell, which I don't regret even a little bit.
PODCASTS
I have been listening to Will Darbyshire and Arden Rose's podcast since it first began, but as I've not been travelling to and from college recently, I didn't particular remember to keep up weekly. However, a few days ago I had some time on my hands so I thought it'd be a perfect opportunity to catch up. As well as loving their content on YouTube, their podcast is something I could listen to episode after episode. Topics often consist of Conspiracy Theories, a Japanese segment where they discuss the most bizarre stories from Japan that week and other variations of segments about the most peculiar of topics, which I can't help but love. It's available on ITunes for anyone who wishes to listen along.
FILMS
Spider-Man: Homecoming. For a long time Spider-Man has been my favourite superhero, so despite others saying so, I hadn't really thought before this point that the other Spider-Man movies with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield were particularly bad, I actually enjoyed them myself, but after watching Tom Holland play Spider-Man it swayed my opinion slightly (but only slightly of course, I still love them all). I loved how he presented himself as both Peter Parker and Spider-Man and without getting too into it and letting my inner Marvel nerd out, I thought he fitted the character perfectly and it made me even more excited for Infinity Wars and I didn't think that was possible. It's still in cinemas at the moment so if you haven't seen it yet, I'd REALLY recommend it.
Juno. I've been meaning to watch this film for a very long time, as I've never sat down and watched it, despite Michael Cera, who is hilariously one of my favourite actors, being one of the main characters. The film is definitely a feel-good teen movie and I love the storyline so much. The cast are so great and I'd definitely recommend it if you've never seen it before. It's about a 16 year old girl who gets pregnant and decides to give the baby to a family who are incapable of having children. Its available on Netflix if anyone if you wish to watch it.
TV SHOWS
GAME OF THRONES IS BACK. I cannot emphasise the excitement I have endured over the past couple of weeks because of this show. I know everybody watches it, and if you don't, there's probably reasoning behind it, but I cannot begin to express how GOOD this show is. Season 7 is only two episodes in as I write this, and I've loved every bit of it. Each character you either love or hate, and despite the likelihood of you remembering all of their names is slim, faces start becoming familiar after around 4 episodes in season 1, luckily. The storylines for the characters are always amazing, and despite not reading the books beforehand (I will eventually. Probably.) the adaptation from the book to the show is suppose to be great, which is always a good thing. I could write about how brilliant this show is forever, but I'll stop now... You can watch Season 7 of the show on Sky Atlantic at the moment, but to watch the entire series I think it's available on SkyGo, NowTV and other TV boxset apps.
Thanks for reading,
